The new president of UMS puts cooperation aimed at revitalizing the sector at the forefront

The newly-elected president of the Uganda Marketer Society (UMS), Asiimwe’s charitable arm, has pledged cross-sector collaboration to boost the association’s activities.

Asiimwe, a Chartered Marketer who has over 16 years of marketing experience across various sectors and is one of the co-founders, will succeed David Balikudembe, a Chartered Marketer who has been serving the society as CEO since March 2022.

Addressing the Annual General Meeting held at the Africana Hotel last week, Asiimwe promised togetherness and marketing excellence through innovation, integrity, collaboration and sustainability as a collective effort to advance society.

Asiimwe said the new leadership would steer the society to achieve its 2024-2026 vision “to become the leading body for marketing practitioners and professionals inspired to develop, promote and apply world-class marketing leadership.”

Additionally, it will bring value to shareholders, which include brands, organizations and marketers.

Balikudembe praised the UMS Secretariat-elect for the passion expressed during this election, hailing it as the most active since its inception.

He appreciated all partners who supported UMS in its early days. These include Vision Group, Crown Beverages Ltd., Uganda Breweries Ltd. and Next Media (NBS).

Other sister companies include the Uganda Advertising Association (UAA), the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) and high-level partners which include the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK).
